Timber Harvesting
The Scofield Difference
Modern timber harvesting, although economically efficient, is often detrimental to the land, leaving it with greatly diminished value. Scofield's methods are different. Years of award winning experience have taught us that attention to detail, with a process that is responsive to landowner needs, is the best way to harvest timber. Others may say that you have to forfeit beauty for income. We know better. We've built our reputation on making sure that our customers experience satisfaction, not sacrifice.
A Landowner's Guide to Selling Timber
Thank you for considering Scofield as your timber company. We are pleased to review your timber stand and present you with an offer and recommendations in order to help you make an informed decision about your choice of timber company.
First of all, all timber offers are not alike. Decisions based solely on price are not always the best deal. The top price company may cut more timber than is good for your property, or your tract could end up being cut by a low-priced logging contractor who does sloppy work with little oversight by a timber supervisor.
It can be difficult to compare timber offers because of the wide variety of cutting skills, tree selection, road building, amount of logging debris, supervision, and the plain common sense of the cutting contractor. A timber contract is just as important as the intent and service that goes along with it.
At Scofield, we manage and control every aspect of the sale directly: price, tree selection, road construction, permitting, insuring the landowner against liability, clean up, erosion control, relations with adjoining landowners, as well as public relations for developers via press releases and news articles.
